>>>> I find that in general horses are much less reactive with a slack rope,
even if someone is holding a horse for the first mounting, which we often
do, the line must not be held tightly and the horse needs the chance to look
around.

I absolutely agree.

>>>> One comment I will make, and you can take it for what it is worth, IME
this type of Icelandic can have a tendency to freeze, and holding the
breath, when concerned so watching the respiration and depth of breathing is
really helpful. I think that with the way you handle horses and the help
you have Angie will come around very well and go a long way.

She is that type of horse - the kind to freeze up. But, you know, I also
think she's an emotionally strong mare, much like Maja and Bjola. My
videographer (a.k.a. husband) has been working crazy hours the past couple
of weeks, but hopefully I can get some video of her interacting with me over
the holidays. I wish I'd been able to get a better video record of her
progress, so you could see the improvement. She really is getting very
comfortable with Cary and me. I'm becoming pretty optimistic that her
curiosity and strength will win out over the tendency to freeze up - in
fact, I think it's already happening.

"The greatest enemy of the truth very often is not the lie- deliberate,
contrived and dishonest -- but the myth -- persistent, persuasive and
unrealistic."

"All truth passes through three stages.
First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed.
Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." ~ Arthur Schopenhauer
