She really is doing very well.. That's Bev riding, not me. There was a mis-communication. I thought I was going to ride and Bev thought she was, so .. ever polite, I let her. And I was glad I did. Tosca did her first cantering today, picked up the correct lead in each direction right out of the box. Bev sewars it was beginner's luck, but I was surprised and pleased.
I think we'll handle Yrsa the same way. Being an abject coward, I have become very good at ground work and love ground driving, so I'll take Yrsa as far as I took Tosca (through her first seven rides or so) then I'll hand her over to Bev for the stuff I'm no longer very good at. Even though Tosca will be a therapy horse and Yrsa will be a trail horse, I like for them to have a good basic education. I've ridden so many horses who had amazing gaps in their training ... think Hunter. Nancy
