>>> Here's the Watson on Yrsa. Please forgive the table linens. It was
someone else's brand new saddle and I didn't want to put it directly on her
back, but I wanted to see it without a thick pad. It was a very nice fit,
but she was three years old when this was taken. As everyone promised, she
has realy grown up in the past six months. There is no longer any question
about Yrsa being big enough for me to ride.

Oooh, I would not recommend buying a treed saddle to fit a
three-year-old...heck, not even a five-year-old, if you expect it to last
very long! Sina was five when I got her, and she's MUCH wider now than she
was at five. For reference, I started riding 5 yo Sina in a Wintec "wide"
gullet, which is approximately 32cm. It was probably too tight, but it
didn't look THAT tight to me. I immediately moved her to an extra-wide
(approximately 33.5 cm), and she promptly outgrew that one...as well as the
x-wide gullet my farrier stretched for her. Then came the 36cm Duett
Encore - that lasted maybe a year. Thankfully my first Sensation arrived
before she outgrew the Duett. I finally sold the Duett, because it was too
tight - she'd be at least a 38cm, maybe even a 40 now in a treed saddle.
Cary's Skjoni has gained several c.m. of width since we got him as a seven
year old. And gosh, Bjola - Ima's mom - actually looked rather refined to
my eye (in the Icelandic sense, anyway) when I bought her as a five-year-old
now, and now, nine, she's somewhat of a tank! Take my word for it - you
don't want to go through as many saddles as I foolishly went through!
