actually that was interesting. They wore a sort of thong type garment made of grass and a leather string up the back. On the second day of the race one man padded his seat on the horse with a pillow of grasses. man talk about riding with fluidity. Those horses would gallop and the men, no saddle, loose rein, barefooted and almost nekkid, were just part of the horse. I was very impressed. maybe it will be on again. Also, the bridles were pretty :) My husband said "I know you are thinking of making one of those bridles for jaspar" haha. They would braid some sort of ivy looking vines together so it would be like a bridle, and leaves were sticking all out from it flapping in the breeze, all ruffley and pretty and green. I am gonna make one for jaspar in spring, with wild flowers, and get a pic. Janice-- yipie tie yie yo
