It didn't matter though - there were other > non-adult classes where the kids competed on equines ranging from 12H to > 17H, with Thunder being about the average height.
And there is nothing quite so gratifying as having a 12.2 h pony win an all age all size hunter over fences class at a small local show. We loved it and the crowd loved it. I've never thought about it before, but does the AQHA > have a minimum height requirement for the horses that adults ride in > reining, cutting and games classes? It's been many years since I showed in an AQHA show, but there certainly was no height requirement back in the olden days. The horses did seem to sort themselves out, with the 16 h horses competing in the English classes and the 14.2 h horses doing the cow workk. Nancy
