I wish to this day that I had a video of a little girl (probably no more than 8 or 9) compete at the "Battle of the Breeds" at Spruce Meadows in Calgary. Her mount was a tiny shetland pony and the two of them were in the barrel racing competion. They had obviously been practising, as when they entered the ring....the pony began to sense his job was coming and he started dancing around....she managed to hold him back without too much effort. But when the horn went off, it was a thrill to watch the two of them working together. What a team. The crowd was on it's feet cheering for the two of them. Wanda
