maybe cause they are so stocky? My cousin has a little paso about 13.2 hh and he looks just dainty, just tiny. I am really big, i weigh 190 and I am only 5'2" and when people see tivar get out of the trailer who have never seen him before they just go on on and onnnn about my gosh he is HUGE, a belgian! they say. a short begian! Then on the ride they will often comment, so many times now from different people so it must be true "i cant believe he is a pony, he doesnt seem like a small horse at all and you look just right on him, like a good fit". but teev is a big guy. a tank. Nasi is smaller but his mom is huge like teev so i am hoping he will be big and i think he will, not tall at all, but big like his dam and teev. But I think he is gonna be much shoter backed which presents its own problem. because unlike teev who can carry weight AND a long saddle cause he has a long back, Nasi has a short back, so any saddle i can fit into may be too long for him and make me sit on his loins. Gosh I hope not, its so hard to lose weight :) and i could never part with the little rat... i know what you mean about ponies tho. shetlands seem almost like minis to me and i have seen a few purebred welsh that seemed awful fine boned and delicate.
