I'd consider our horses to be some of the best and most sensible trail horses I've ever met. But, I honestly don't think I have an Icelandic that I'd sell that I would promote as serious endurance prospect. Is there a strongly gaited Icelandic that is seriously competing in endurance? I don't remember hearing of one, but I own two Icelandics who are endurance dropouts. My Flekka, Isak's mom, supposedly finished one endurance ride, and maybe a couple of CTR or LD's, before I bought her. I have trouble imagining her enjoying that. Flekka is a very laid-back and quiet horse. (Even when she's not nine-months pregnant, like she is at the moment.) Of course, no one said she was fast - just that she finished one race. I think Trausti's prior owner had hopes of competing him in endurance too, but she sold him to me when she saw that wasn't going to happen. Trausti would be happy to spend the rest of his life lollygagging along the trails, stopping to smell the roses. Both Flekka and Trausti have nice gaits and conformation - but they are both a little pokey.
