Do any of you who are using Sensation saddles ride where there are steep
downgill descents? Do you need to use a crupper?

I always ride with a breast plate, so uphill is never a problem/

Nancy, I've ridden Sensation saddles on my Icelandics (with three very
different backs) in five different fifty mile endurance rides and one hundred
miler, as well as numerous 15-30 mile conditioning rides. The saddle
definitely
requires a breast collar especially when the horse does enough work to really
build up a sweat and you are riding in anything but relatively flat terrain.
I used to hook up a crupper but have stopped using it with the Sensations
because I don't think you really need one. The fact that they sit behind the
shoulder (instead of on it like a flex panel saddle) and have to be girthed up
pretty tight means they just don't slide forward that much.
