We weren't so concerned with the gaits in these videos, but the action of the head. In the first one of the palomino, the head isn't being held by the rider very tightly. The horse has use of his head. In the second one, the horse is framed by the rider, fighting the bit, and held too tightly. This is an exercise to look at different things. In Icelandic Horses, that head tossing, up and down, side to side, tipping of the head at odd angles has become common place and accepted as normal. Should it be?
