now judy and all the west coast people are gettin a freakin hurricane! Is this weather amazing or WHAT. Our entire county is under a boiled water notice like we are in mexico or something from all the flooding. we had 8 inches in 12 hours. good for the drought! but why all at once...... amazing. Batten down the hatches you guys who arent used to hurricanes! you think, oh well, its only 70 mph, but 70 mph SUSTAINED for even an hour can do a remarkable amount of damage, especially with rainfall that loosens tree roots etc. In dry places roots dont grow deep and trees are vulnerable, also a phenomenon happens in even a mild hurricane, where weak trees are "culled" by mother nature, diseased, weak, genetically inferior trees, some of them gigantic and seemingly perfectly healthy, just crash down! So be careful!! Also, get plenty of food that doesnt need heating up because theres nothing worse than those pimento cheese sandwiches the red cross makes... I till be thinking of you! here is a pic of the little creek down the street, it is almost to the bridge and it is usually twenty feet lower than this!
