A horse tied properly, NATRC style, has considerably more room than 10 x 10 or even a standard home stall of 12 x 12. They can't do pirouettes, but they can move the length of the trailer (the lead is tied so that the snap, if unclipped from the bridle, would dangle a few inches off the ground), lay down, and roll (judging by the dirt on their blanket in the morning). After a hard ride of course you also handwalk them around camp a few times before going to bed, but even if you don't, they still move enough to have clean legs and be ready to go in the morning.
