Hi Mic, People use portable paddock kits here too, (or have their own homemade versions), but the problem lies in the fact many places will not allow them. I don't know exactly why -- the reason(s) likely vary from place to place: They don't want horses grazing, they feel the horses aren't secure, -- who knows. One of my favorite places to camp (when I was horse camping) is a beautiful recreational area about an hour away from me with designated horse trails and horseman's campground. They have large high line poles set at each campsite and that's what you are to use. No portable corrals are allowed, and from what I observed, the park ranger enforced this without exception. Also, on the Michigan Shore to Shore trail rides, no portable corrals are allowed -- horse's MUST be picketed (actually, high-lined). -- Renee M. in Michigan
