The FEIF rules are written for shows and evaluations done on flat, groomed tracks. Why would any healthy, reasonably well-conformed horse need protection on that sort of surface? Remember, "protective" boots are allowed in evaluations...which are nominally "BREEDING evaluations." If a horse is so poorly conformed as to need protective boots on a flat track, that should be clearly shown on the results of the breeding evaluation summary. I sure wouldn't be breeding a horse that interfered on a level, flat surface. Karen Thomas, NC
