Well, really guys -- those sorts of events are happening all over the place in the US. As someone mentioned, there are generally all breed Open shows or Open gaited shows, that would have trail classes, gait classes, performance classes. If you have a community equestrian center, check to see if they have schooling shows, etc. Trail trials are becoming very popular. Sorting and penning are a blast I don't know if there are many areas where there are enough Icelandics to have breed only shows or schooling shows or playdays . . . . but if someone else is putting on a fun event that they'll allow you to enter, do it. It's such a good way to find out what your horses can do that might be incorporated into your breed shows ... and to also show off the breed to other horsemen. (A fun memory I have was of when one of the riding associations in Santa Barbara decided to put a few gaited classes in their Spring schooling show at the request of a friend of mine with a TWH. She put the word out to the gaited community to support the effort and I found myself in the ring on my gelding gaiting around along with another Peruvian (with a Novice rider), a couple TWHs, a foxtrotter, and about a dozen Icelandics that came down from Santa Ynez with Elisabeth!
