I don't think it's we have trouble listening, I think we mis-interpret a lot. Once we understand something the horse is telling us, a bond IS formed, and the horse becomes more understanding of our mistakes because they know sooner or later their stupid humans will get an "ah ha" moment and get it. They are so patient with us, but sometimes they do get exasperated when we are slow to understand or mis-interpret them. Then instead of horse training for people, it becomes people training for horses. :-) THEN you have a partnership and 2 way communication.
