Most Icelandics don't need a browband for headstall stability like the more "mane challenged " breeds and some because of the way their jowls built don't do well with a throatlatch. I guess that was how the single strap hadstall eveoled in Iceland. This does present the possibility of pulling off the headstall more easily by either rubbing or in emergencies. That's why, if you can get away with riding in a sidepull, the TTEAM version has a really well placed "jowl latch" for better stability. There are many other sidepulls that have a similar "jowl latch" &/or well placed throat latchs. I'm sure for safety's sake, you could have any tack repair person add a "jowl strap" for stability for not too much money to any headstall by splitting it to add a ring then the jowl strap.
