Yep, I experience that exact same thing, my parents raised Arabians, and they always listened to me after I would tell them a mare was going to foal tonight, time after time... I also would wake up on my own go check and sure enough she had foaled, was laying down or just about to lay down and foal... Personally, I think it is a psychic experience... you have described it well..
