Hi Judy, yes it is on steep down hills that it slips forward.
We live where every place we ride is either very uphill or very downhill. I just looked up some elevations this morning and one difficult training ride we do about twice a year goes from 1400 feet to 5208 ft. Some of the horsesm,even horses with withers, will have their saddles slip when they go down steep trails. Our friends who ride treeless use cruppers and really would want all of the rest of us to use them too. I did need to use one on the round bodied/low withered Twist and I may eventually use one with Tosca, the Icelandic cross. Some riders just get off and walk on the steep downhills and others get off frequently to adjust their saddles. Nancy
