and the winner had cracked hooves but they ran him anyway. Then two put down at the rolex eventing thing this month. what is going on? People just want to win at all cost! Follow the money... People think oh, theres not all THAT much money to the winners at these things, like biglick shows. nonononono. Thats not where the money is! The money is to the ones who want to breed to the WGC, the winner, to hire the trainers, to have their animals trained at that specific barn by those specific people. Thats where the money is. And not just that horse. his progeny is bred too. passing on the lousy gait that can only be smooth with weighted stacked shoes. perpetuating the weakness. Happens in every breed. TWH, Icelandics, TBs, racking horses, morgans, everything. Have you seen an arab wgc lately? They have necks like a brontosaurus. you can be guaranteed it wouldnt move the way an arab was born to move fifty years ago.
then the people in the real world, like me... my craziest walking horse, my only one really, he has modern WGC horse blood in him. My craziest icelandic, he was sent off to professional icelandic show trainers. At the boarding barn we were at many years... people breeding all the time, real people, every day people like me, always driving halfway across the country looking for "old foundation" blood, almost extinct, but that way your horse would be healthier, hardier, have more sense, better feet, better immunities better bone. no crazy appaloosa blood for them!! No! bred for color not sense. Need that old palouse indian blood thats almost extinct. Show icelandics are being bred to be lean and lithe, none of this tacky slaughterhouse big bone draft horse stuff, oh my gosh what an embarassment! Us stupid americans, buying these draft icelandics thinking we have something, when those that look like a little dainty morgan, now those are the ones you want in the show ring... and then they have to weight them up and bit them up and crank them up to gait. And us riding the old foundation icelandics are riding naturally gaited ones. hmm. TWHBEA here we come... You cant race a horse with bad bones, bad feet, bad legs without stressing those bad bones. heloooooooo what a buncha frikken idjits. I know someone who bought a racehorse, a relative actually, in louisiana. Him and his friends went in together on it. It dropped dead of a heart attack its first race. Guess why? Drug withdrawal. God gave us dominion over the beasts of the fields and I think if he ever comes back he's gonna take the dominion away from us and give it to chimpanzees. Janice-- even good horses have bad days sometimes.
