I wouldn't dare to feed my icelandic grain she would be enormous. I
give her supplements in a handful of Dengie Hi Fi lite which is a chaff
of chopped alfalfa and straw. Any chaff suitable for laminitics would
do. I have managed to get her weight down from 366kg to 340kg despite
the spring grass and without the grazing muzzle. I am strip grazing
small areas at a time. I am trying to create a system whereby there is
longest distance from water/shelter to the strip so they get plenty of
exercise. It's a bit like a mini track system. It stretches them
mentally too as sometimes they have to go into the next paddock for the
strip( I leave the gate open).
