I am able to touch Gat's eye area, she doesn't resist, but when I tried to lift the lid, upper or lower on either eye, she closes her eyes and I can't get a grip to move the lid. I'm too nervous to really grab in case I hurt her--I have no idea what I'm doing and don't want to cause any damage. V
This brings back nightmares from veterinary school ... "and just what is this? ..."and why is this?" "and what are you going to do now!?" ARG! Anyhow - still doesn't look like much but ... Next time your vet comes out, have him/her show you how to check the eye, mucus membranes and sclera. I can't seem to be able to describe it clearly. You don't actually pick up the lids - you push in on the part of the lid that is covering the eyeball. Is there any long distance or trail organizations in your area? They have you do a health check on your horse and one of their seminars would be helpful for you. I guess the upshot for me is that I can't tell for 100% sure and so if it doesn't get better soon, I'd have it checked. Penny
