He's gotten along pretty well with about all the horses here. I'm migrating
back to having a mare pasture and a gelding pasture, since I'll soon have a
stallion on the property again - the young stallion seems pretty docile, but
if he should get out of his paddock, it would be bad enough for him to breed
some mares - I don't need a gelding/stallion fight too.

He's a smart cookie, that's for sure - one of the smartest horses I've
encountered. Cary and I did the leapfrog thing on the trail today, and it
was good for both. Tivar seems to prefer leading, and Brunka prefers
following, so they got to switch places along. They both did great with the
role reversal. At one point, Cary and Brunka passed us, and Cary was
leading her, so he could pull a limb off the trail. Teev stopped the second
I asked, but when Brunka went to pass him, he pulled the reins a little to
show he was impatient. Then, he saw what Cary was going to do, and it was
like, "Oh, we're doing this for a reason." Then he was perfectly content to
stand until the trail was clear. I think his grumpy days are mostly past -
he's still what I'd call opinionated, and I guess that's my weakness - I
love a horse who thinks about things enough to have an opinion about trail
things. :)
