I currently manage an Icinga 1.x environment where we're seeing high (1200s+) latencies on our servers that are monitoring upwards of 4000 service checks and 600 host checks. I have done a lot of tuning of the icinga performance parameters but have been unable to reduce this latency.
One of the projects we are considering is upgrading to Icinga 2.x in order to leverage the Clustering functionality. My question is whether the performance engine in 2.x is any better than in 1.x? If I upgrade my environment, keeping the number of icinga servers constant, will I see noticeably lower latencies? I imagine this is a function of two things: leveraging the clustering/distributed stuff; and whether the performance engine was overhauled and rewritten for 2.x? If we cant' squeeze any better performance out of this, then unfortunately we're going with a different monitoring solution that scales better. -- Michael Martinez
