Thank you for responding.

I installed Icinga on Cent OS 6.4 64bits.
12 Go RAM
50 Go HDD
4 CPU

I want to test icinga with5-6 hosts (parent-child relation) and then add on few
machines from other site accros the wan which will be check in the begening
by icinga and later by an icinga-remote-agent or poller or satellite… then
deploy for 2000 machines and 6000 checks in 40 world sites.

My question is in which file can I add the host … is it the hosts.conf file ?
What I find in there is not so familiar (I am starting with monitoring tools,
not un expert)

Should I put below in hosts.conf this ?

define host{
        host_name server fqdn name
        alias fileserver
        address 192.168.1.254
        parents fileserver1
        check_command check-host-alive
        check_interval 5
        retry_interval 1
        max_check_attempts 5
        check_period 24x7
        process_perf_data 0
        retain_nonstatus_information 0
        contact_groups router-admins
        notification_interval 30
        notification_period 24x7
        notification_options d,u,r
        }

What if I want more then one check_commande ? should I insert between
check_commande & check interval ?

If you have some moment please help or send me a link to read in explicite way

Best regardes

tomislav

Hello everybody

I just installed icinga 2 with few difficultys …
I’m looking for some forum or community where can I get some ideas.
Am I at the right place ?

Yep. But be advised that a little more information about your systems and
requirements would ease others in answering here, or at the other channels
listed at
https://www.icinga.org/icinga/faq/get-help/

For now I would like to know if it’s possible to add a graphical administration
layer… not to use the command line.
If yes, which tool should I install ? Centreon is compatible with Icinga ?

There is a configuration tool coming, the kick-off meeting is tomorrow.

Other than that, there are configuration management tools as well - puppet,
ansible, chef, etc

Centreon does not seem to be compatible with Icinga 2 these days, but you
should ask the developers.

Kind regards,
Michael

Thanks a lot
