Thank you for your response, Michael.

The web page doesn’t have the equation. It says what attribute I need to
use.

The other part of document shows;

      Flapping value = (# of actual state change/ ???)

I can not read ??? Part.

If you are referring to the migration docs from 1.x to 2.x, I wouldn't
go there unless you're having an existing 1.x system and require details
how it worked there.

Probably your browser is just doing foobar :-)

The Icinga 1.x flapping detection uses the last 21 states of a service.
This value is hardcoded and cannot be changed. The algorithm on
determining a flapping state is as follows:

flapping value = (number of actual state changes / number of possible
state changes)

The flapping value is then compared to the low and high flapping thresholds.

The algorithm used in Icinga 2 does not store the past states but
calculcates the flapping threshold from a single value based on counters
and half-life values. Icinga 2 compares the value with a single flapping
threshold configuration attribute.

Hi all,

I asked about flapping question before but I didn’t get any reply. So
I am asking again.

According to the Documentation, Icinga was not able to modify the
flapping parameter. But for Icinga2, it looks like it can be
configurable.

But I am not sure how to change it. Can someone tell me how? The
following is the image capture from the documentation:

I can not see after “sta…..”

Does anyone know what is written there?
Probably not the accurate place to look for. The flapping documentation
can be found here:

topics#check-flapping

Kind regards,
Michael

Thanks

Nobuo
