Well, I tried that. I gave the icinga@localhost the password of icinga. I restarted the following services: httpd, mysqld, ido2db, icinga. I checked icingaApi.log, and still has the access denied error. The documentation, http://docs.icinga.org/latest/en/icinga-web-scratch.html, states that if I'm getting the access denied error, to check your IDOUtils DB credentials in ido2db.cfg and add those to Icinga Web configuration as preferred DB credentials for IDO. In new versions of icinga-web, that means checking the xml files in /app/modules/Web/config. I checked icinga-io.xml and module.xml. Both of those had the icinga mysql user as having the password of icinga. Even after I specifically gave the icinga@localhost mysql user the password of icinga, I still got access denied. So unless there's another file somewhere else that I need to change the passw ord, I don't know what other options I have. there's a note in this documentation below the config edits...
