I have a customer that wants the following:

He has 3 layers of hostgroups

segmentXX-hg (host members on a segment, no hostgroup_members)
buildingYY-hg (hostgroup_members are hostgroup segmentXX-hg, no host
members)
regionZZ-hg (hostgroup_members are hostgroup buildingYY-hg, no host members)

There are multiple segmentXX-hg hostgroup_members in a buildingYY-hg.
There are multiple buildingYY-hg hostgroup_members in a regionZZ-hg.

On the web-gui he wants to be able to monitor the top-level hostgroups
(regionZZ-hg). When a problem is indicated in the most top-level
(region), he wants to be able to drill down to the next level (building)
to see where the problem is located and only when he needs to see the
failing host's details he wants to go to the host status view in the
segment level.

What is configured now, is that when you select the toplevel
hostgroup(region), you get immediately the host status view of all the
hosts that ultimately belong to the the toplevel hostgroup (regionZZ-hg).

Is this something that is at all supported by Icinga and if it is, how
can it be configured (both icinga-web and classical ui)?

Thanks,

Hans Feringa
