Hi,

I just joined the list, and I already have a problem.

I use icinga 1.7.2 from the openSUSE server:monitoring repository for
SLES11-SP2. I defined 70 hosts and service checks for most of them.
Some of these hosts are dummy-hosts with address 127.0.0.1, because I
only need them to execute check_cluster commands.

A typical check reads like

define service {
    use                     svc-template
    host_name               BWE.Basis
    service_description     Basis BWE
    contact_groups          SAPadmins
    check_command
check_host_cluster!"BWE.Basis"!0!1!$HOSTSTATEID:vsapbwe1$,$HOSTSTATEID:vsapbwe2$
    notifications_enabled       0
}

The single hosts needed here, vsapbwe1 and vsapbwe2, have not yet been
checked. Every time this check is executed, icinga dies without
leaving any notice. The temporary directory already contains several
left-over checkgNrzLMpf-files ;-)

ido2db runs, and (of course) continues running when icinga dies.

Of course I can use monit to restart icinga every time it breaks down,
but I'd rather understand what's going wrong.

Even after eliminating all check_cluster checks, icinga dies.

- ---pins---

The file '/var/log/icinga/spool/checkeiIiCH' exists and has content.

The config has been copied from a SLES11-SP1 box, where icinga runs
for months without any problems... Only that this box has icinga 1.7.1
running.

Plus, I work with nagios for several years now, so I'm not a newbie at
configuring ;-) But I still do not know why icinga silently dies away :-(

Regards,
Werner
