I'm using Icinga version 1.7.2, compiled from source, nagios-plugins 1.4.16, on
an ARM system. I've set up various checks within a home network and all but
one work fine. I've run into a problem I can't seem to find a fix or
explanation for concerning the check_ntp_time plugin.
When setting up the NTP check, I used "check_ntp_time -H <ntp server> -w 15 -c
30" which works fine checking through NRPE, but when it checks localhost,
without NRPE, I get results in Icinga similar to this: NTP WARNING: Offset
-7.450580597e-05 secs. If I run the check manually from the plugins directory
to check localhost, I get results similar to this: NTP OK: Offset
0.0007694959641 secs|offset=0.000769s;15.000000;30.000000;
I thought it might have something to do with the offset being in scientific
notation and it was being interpreted as being over 7 seconds off from the ntp
server, but even if that was the case, it still shouldn't warn as it's lower
than 15. None of the other servers' results are in scientific notation though,
and in fact, one of them is the same architecture and operating system version
as the localhost.
I've done quite a bit of googling to find what I'm looking for and have been
unsuccessful so far. Has anyone else run into this? Is there somewhere else I
should be looking?
Thanks.
