The "Connection Failed" message doesn't offer a ton of help, the best way is probably to run a report that references the datasource (it should fail to run). After the failed run, check apache-tomcat/webapps/jasperserver-pro/WEB-INF/logs/jasperserver.log for an error cause. Likely something like not having the JDBC driver (class not found) or credentials issue or can't reach the database.
