    I may have missed it along the line, but what, precisely,
does the error say.  Is it reproducible from both "sides" of
the NRPE connection?  (I.e. Can you perturb the error by calling
check_nrpe on the Icinga server and get the same error as you see
on the machine that's being monitored?)
