    In any event, I find that Icinga's "All Unhandled Problems" CGI
page (in the "Classic" GUI) is usually where I "park" my operational
duties.

    Maps are nice, don't get me wrong, and I suspect in your application,
now that I seem to have a better handle on it, could benefit from NagVis
and using floor-plans of your building as the starting-point and then
placing each object on those drawings to form the map that will get
displayed someplace.  That'll tell you not just that something dropped
dead but also *where* it is at a glance; however, that won't tell you
*what* it is, just that you have a body to deal with.
