I'll set up a test env and see what's up,
The odd thing though is ... when ran from CLI (aka shell line) 
everything worked like a charm.
So my guess is that the plugin segfaulted when ran for "n" number of 
times, and since icinga uses popen (which as far as i know makes a 
parent memory copy before launching the child process)  to start command 
checks, the problem resides over there rather then in the script itself.
Maybe it would be useful looking into a vfork / execve solution to 
prevent memory copies which i think would solve the issue.
