Hap Moore Team Race
United States Coast Guard Academy
October 8,9 2005
Saturday: saw lots of rain but terrific team race conditions. A single
round-robin of 66 races was completed and the second round robin was
started with 18 more races sailed. The breeze was out of the south at
5-10 knots all day. The starboard "N" course was used.
Sunday: A steady 15-25 Northerly held throughout the completion of the
second round robin. As the breeze began to die off a top 6 and second 6
rotation was attempted but a dying breeze and lots of current slowed the
rotation and we were unable to finish the last couple of races before
4:30.
Thanks to our Judge Joel Hanneman along with all the coaches who heard a
lot of protests with some DSQ's issued. In all 132 races counted with
an additional 23 sailed that didn't count. All courses were a starboard
"N". Great job to all the Coast Guard Cadets who ran a fantastic event.
