Mitch Brindley President, ICSA 757-683-3387 office (ODU) 757-683-6124 fax 757-287-1201 mobile www.collegesailing.org announcing The Advanced Youth Match Racing Camp hosted by The US Sailing Center of Sheboygen July 8-12, 2009 Dave Perry - the current U.S. Match Racing National Champion - will be running an advanced YOUTH Match Racing Camp this summer, at which he will be teaching advanced techniques for racing keelboats and match racing. The ages are 15-20. The Camp will be hosted by the US Sailing Center of Sheboygan in Wisconsin, in their excellent fleet of Sonars. Dates are July 8-12. His focus will be on correct sail trim and boat handling, including spinnaker work, team communication, rules knowledge, and of course advanced techniques for winning in Match Racing. Teams are traveling from St. Thomas USVI, San Diego, and Detroit. Space is limited so requests should be sent in as soon as possible. College, or college bound sailors especially will benefit profoundly from Coach Dave's unique insight, and teaching style. Request admission at http://sailsheboygan.us/n-2009-youthmatchrace-main.php. Dave writes: "I am committed to helping raise the level of match racing in the U.S., and that means exposing youth sailors to the advanced techniques for sailing keel boats and match racing as soon as possible. A camp like this provides me an extraordinary opportunity to give talented youth sailors some great information and one-on-one feedback. And the Sonar is a great boat to be doing this in." This will also be a great ramp-up for any teams being invited to the 2009 Governor's Cup, the International Junior Match Racing Championship, hosted by the Balboa Yacht Club, Corona Del Mar, California, July 14-19, 2009.
