Subject: SAISA Match Race Qualifiers held at College of Charleston

The group of 5 schools (USF, Eckerd, College of Charleston, Clemson, Georgia
Tech.) was greeted at the J. Stewart Walker center with a beautiful 8-10 Mph
Northwesterly that unfortunately faded quickly and left the fleet postponed
until 10:30. A soft but sailable westerly filled and allowed the fleet of 5
J/22’s sail a good solid first round robin. The breeze was for the most part
fairly steady velocity wise though a bit shifty as it faded back and forth from
the west to NW. The second round robin started in a nice 6 mph westerly but the
ebb current starting to flow…and flow it did. By the end of the second round
robin, which concluded at 4:30, the water was moving with all that the Cooper
River could muster.
Congratulations to University of South Florida in their victory in some very
challenging conditions!
A huge thank you to our umpires; Steve Wrigley, our certified International
ISAF judge, John Bowden and Tom Loutrel for all their efforts in helping to
make the regatta as efficient and fair as possible. Thanks for giving us your
Saturday.
Also thanks to all the Cougar team mates who came out to help support their
team and manage a nice event!
Attached is the scoring grid and the RP list of participants.
Best Regards,
Greg
