It was not your intent, it was your action.

The reason that I responded to your note was that I was (and am) suggesting 
that the way to reach a solution is to pursue a series of small steps.

Your note was phrased in a way that made it easy to think it was intended 
to be related to my suggestion, though it was not.  I therefore wanted to 
make sure that no one thought it was.
