Due to popular demand and in anticipation of the lifting of Canadian
restrictions on internet domain names, Internic.ca, Canada's leading
internet registrar, is opening to our existing customers a special
pre-booking service for the registration of top level .ca domain names.
This is the first pre-booking service of its kind to be offered in Canada!
It allows our customers the chance to get in line for the first-come
first-serve basis for a .ca name.

Why would I pre-book?

Under existing regulations, companies and individuals are frequently denied
.ca names due to their level of incorporation or restricted to only one .ca
name. Only organizations that have been incorporated federally can apply
and receive a top-level .ca domain name.

The new regulations, administered by the Canadian Internet Registration
Authority (CIRA), will allow anyone to have a .ca domain name. The change
will allow companies to protect all of their trademarks with a range of .ca
names, one for each of their products or brand names. Companies and
individuals may choose to register generic domain names such as car.ca or
Tom.ca or JaneDoe.ca

How does it work?

You simply chose as many domain names as you desire through our automated
web system at www.internic.ca. You are assigned a user ID and a password
that allows you to check the status of your chosen domains, add new domains
and remove domains you no longer desire.

When the rules change later this fall, you will be in line to register your
choice of domain names if they are available, and Internic.ca will
immediately attempt to register your chosen domains on your behalf.

How much does it cost?

Adding your domain(s) to the pre-booking list is free. You are only
charged if the domain(s) you chose is registered to you.

Internic will charge its standard registration fee at the time of
registration. With the elimination of the rules, a new fee structure will
be put into place. These new registration fees will be published on the
site as soon as they are available and emailed to everyone who pre-booked.
Should you not wish to pay the standard registration fee, you can remove
your domain from the queue at any time.

Once the domain has been registered to you, you will be billed. When you
book your domain name you must provide a credit card number. The charges
for the registration of the domain will be put on your credit card ONLY IF
THE DOMAIN HAS BEEN REGISTERED TO YOU.
