Hmm.. well I hope nobody spent any time on this... buried deeply in one of
NLAPS files indicated that these were really in the govt Albers Equal Area
projection (conterminous US with a couple of tweaks). On the bright side, the
Idrisi Import routine works flawlessly on these files.. of course for any
interested, apparently GRASS and one of Blue Marbles products can handle SOM
if you can find the parameters for the path and satellite.
