If the mailing list system is, really, merely re-posting a message, with only minor annotations, so that the core semantic of the mechanism is address fan-out, then the message is, really, "from" the original author, and not "from" the list. If the mailing list system is, really, taking the original message and doing substantial massaging/creating of content, then the message is, really "from" the mailing list system and not the original author. In the latter case, it makes sense to have a different From: field. Daily digests are an example of this. Note that the decision is ultimately subjective and it pertains to expectations at the human level. It's not simply a mechanical issue. d/ -- Dave Crocker Brandenburg InternetWorking bbiw.net _______________________________________________ NOTE WELL: This list operates according to http://mipassoc.org/dkim/ietf-list-rules.html
