As Bill Manning said, potentially exactly the same number as there
are potentially in IPv4.
But there are a hell of a lot more /40's in IPv6 than in IPv4. And
I know that a /40 will be way too big for my University, a /48 will be
just fine... (on the other hand, we could never survive with an IPv4 /20).
