i find not wiping someone out completely is worse than wiping them out. At
least if you kill them off they can leave. Instead what they tend to have is an
empire consisting of 1 or 2 worthless cities that you couldn't have been
bothered sending troops to take as they have no commodities. So they are left
there netting less than 10 gold a turn meaning it takes several turns to even
buy a unit from the current era and giving them next to no hope of getting any
of the tech or qualifications to win.

I feel the need to defend Civ, it is a 10 hour game or there about so youneed
to devote time to it. I have rarely ever seen any one knocked outcompletely.
Remember it is not your strength on the map that matters it isthe civilisation
cards that you purchase. You can always get back in to aposition because the
disaster cards will hurt the big guys more. If you wantto speed up play but a
strict time limit on commodity trading.Joe_____ From: [email protected]

sure if I was already tired when I began to play, but afternine straight hours
playing... I do not think the owner of the game everproposed to play again, at
least not to me! There might be people thatlike the game, but I suppose that
either they knew the rules beforehand(and therefore could play faster) or they
need more than one sitting tofinish a game. Like many games that let play many
people, some can beout of the game after one or two hours, so they might
sabotage the gamejust because they do not see any possible comeback into top
position.Maybe I was unfortunate with the game and the players, though. Have
youtried "Attack" yet? It looks more maneagable for one afternoon. --- In
