The problem is that rpm 3.x doesn't accept the SRPMS generated by rpm 4.x
either, so it's a chicken and egg problem.

If RH7 is not stable enough then 6.2 is much less so. In any case, there
are updates which are also in rpm format. Naturally, the one who will do
the upgrade, should also apply the updates. But that's what we have a
network connectivity for.
