I am by no means an IIS guru, so excuse me if there's an easier method.
I'm assuming since you want to generate a new certificate that you're
self-issuing certificates with your own CA? In that case, you can go to
http://localhost/certsrv on the machine running the Certificate Services
and request a new certificate (using the "Advanced Request" and Web
Server template). Once it has been generated, you can install it in your
certificate store and use the Web Server certificate wizard in IIS to
replace the old certificate for the web site.

Subject: SSL Certificate

IIS Gurus,

I was wondering what the best procedure would be to generate a new
certificate for a website that already has a SSL certificate that has
not yet expired. I can't renew the current certificate because some of
the information needs to change (particularly the organization's name).

When I go to the website in the IIS snap-in under the Directory Security
tab I do not have an option to generate a new SSL cert because one is
already in place. Can I simply generate the new SSL Cert under a
different website that has no SSL, then when complete remove it from
that website and assign the new cert to the original website?

Does that sound right or is there a better way?

Thanks,
Steve
