I have IIS 5 installed on Windows 2000 Advanced Server and have had webs
with FP extensions installed in the \inetpub\wwwroot folder, others are
installed in the d:\wwwroot\webname directory structure. I've never had
a problem creating one in either location but I do not try to put them
directly under c:\inetpub without putting them in the wwwroot folder
under inetpub if that makes sense.

Now I haven't tried creating a new one with extensions since installing
the final release version of the .NET framework on it. I just now tried
creating one on my laptop running IIS5.1 on XP Pro but the test was
inconclusive since you can only create subwebs on XP Pro and my webroot
is defined as d:/wwwroot. The subweb was created there with FP 2002
extensions.

Well, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "you can..." -- ie, what are
you
saying can be done in \inetpub\wwwroot\ folder??

B/C what I'm saying is that - at least with the server setup of
IIS5/SP3/FPv4 and/or FPv5 (exts) and .NET installed (have not tested w/o

.NET installed) - I cannot have a web site (virtual web server) under
the
c:\inetpub\ directory and have it work with FrontPage Extensions. Now,
I
can make the web server work -- but NO FPExts will work on that virtual
server. I've tested this on 2 different servers and it seems from what
Kent
has said that it is known.

So - hope that clarifies what I was talking about ... thanks for the
information on the .NET ... I had installed the 1.1 FINAL BETA version
--
so, I hope I'm not too messed up!

Thanks. -jason
