Robin Please install with the normal Ubuntu 8.04 CD on the pen drive 1. when choosing partition take care that the required one /dev/sdb2 or whatever is chosen. 2. When you install the boot loader ensure you are writing it to /dev/sdb (and not to some other location).
Note that if you are doing this on a system with an ide disk it shall be /dev/sda etc for the above. This has been reported to be working in the past. (A search in the archives shall show that). A friend of mine has been using it on his usb hdd similarly.
