Hi
Fisrt of all let me make the problem crystal clear.

I am using KDE desktop, i am using PC not laptop, mu kernel is 2.6
series not 2.4 series so alsa is perfect for me.I have installed the
necessary proprietary codes like win32 codecs and libdvd codecs. So i
can play dvds and vcd's.

But issue is regarding sound.Whenever i am restarting my Linux box
then if i play an mp3 file using XMMS the no error and everything goes
fine but no sound.

Now whenever i run KEFFEINE Player it is always showing muted means a
red x on sound symbol on Keffeine.

Now i run

alsaconf

it shows my sound card and i select intel hda
then i add snd to /etc/module file and aloso from kcontrol i have
selected hardware as alsa then i log out and again log in. Now if i am
playing using XMMS no error but if i am using MPLAYER at the same time
it gives

error /dev/dsp resource busy now if i terminate XMMS then MPLAYER
gives no error but no sound also.
Now if i kill all the provesses which may cause trouble to MPLAYER
like

artsd
etc.

the MPLAYER gives no error bu tno sound also the XMMS start to give
rerror

/dev/dsp busy

so i think there is race condtion between various players like XMMS ,
MPLAYER. But ultimate result is no sound.

VLC plays files with no problem but no sound.
