Actually, I have a webcam but I didnt know the model or the make of that webcam. So I dwnloaded easycam software. But the whole programme is written in French and was thus worse than command-line. But after a little difficuly i managed to install it. When I ran that software, it detected my webcam as Microdia USB2.0 Webcam12. I tried to install the camera usin dat software but most probably it wasnt able to. I cudnt understand the messages as they were all in French. The reply was " Drivers installe !". However I cud still click on the Forward button and when I clicked on it, it showed "Installation Complete" It also said " to test your webcam: Exectue -> Webcam (no spelling errors from my side)

However, the webcam does not get mounted in the /dev/video directory. Infact there is no /dev/video directory even when the webcam is connected to the USB port. * What is even more funny is that I cant even find the file called /home/robin/.webcamrc when I try to open it thru "file Browser"* Therefore, I am not able to use any webcam software such as Cheese or Camorama.
