Why did you post it on a linux user's group mailing list which is meant as a support group and popularizing Linux? Don't you know it is inappropriate to do that. You did not even mark your mail as off-topic? How about that? How about the blatant use of colours and variable font size [see http://www.iwillfollow.com/email.htm a hit for "email etiquettes"]? I'll tell you what you were doing. You were advertising your activity to probably give meaning to whatever you were trying to do. I find THAT funny. You thought that since this is a mailing list which is dominated by IITD people, it would be okay to send an email here and probably nobody would respond. Narendra, I'll request you to may be document this too somewhere on the lug-iitd website and put a link prominently somewhere. Rule 1: This mailing list is not meant for advertising. Rule 2: If you think somebody will remotely find it worthwhile, the subject must have "off-topic" Rule 3: Your ad should be short (preferably) one page, attached as a pdf -- not a doc, preferably not even openoffice doc (that makes it at least look partly professional) Rule 4: Word your email as We are doing blah blah and we would like to see some participation from this group 'cause I/we think it can be helpful to you as blah blah.
